As a boy singer, Daniel
attended Truro Cathedral School, and so obviously spent happy years
singing as a chorister in Truro Cathedral. He then went to study
singing at the Guildhall School of Music, and then the Royal
Northern College of Music.
During his life as a professional
singer, Daniel has worked for Scottish Opera, English National Opera
and the Royal Opera at Covent Garden. He has been part of many great
works including taking a leading role in Johnathan Miller’s
fantastic production of Verdi’s Rigoletto at ENO, an apprentice in
Graham Vick’s production of Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg at the
ROH, plus solo roles in Antonio Pappano’s recordings of La Boheme
and La Rondine, to name to name but a few.
He has taken part
in many film recordings – Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Enemy at the
Gates, as well as operatic recordings of numerous operas.
He
has performed as a soloist with touring companies such as the Carl
Rosa, the Opera Theatre Company- taking the lead role of Candide, as
well as Bizet’s Don Jose in Carmen for Peter Knap’s Travelling
Opera.
A perhaps slightly more surprising string to Daniel’s
bow is his work with the group Gregorian, which has an enormous
following in mainland Europe. Indeed, at the end of the year Daniel
will embark on a Gregorian tour which will take him throughout,
Europe, Russia and Poland.
